It hasn’t always been this way.
Don’t you wonder why some people seem to “have it all”, yet you feel like you’re being held back by some invisible forcefield? There’s no denying I had a pretty good start to my career; modelling from 18 years of age to then becoming Miss Queensland in the Miss Australia Quest at aged 22… but stepping into the corporate world felt like a mismatch, I was a round peg, square hole.
In personal relationships too, I never really felt like I was bringing all of me. I had a “shopfront” I could change depending on the situation (while keeping my wild side hidden) but only showing part of me at any time was depressing. In fact, depression was a big part of my life back then, feeling like I didn’t truly belong anywhere. I was unsettled, always searching for that next relationship, next job, next industry. My career traversing fashion to PR, marketing to journalism, events to tourism, advertising to film. Always going up the ladder, but never quite hanging around long enough to go for the top job, or feeling like I deserved it anyway. I used to jokingly say to myself “always Miss Queensland, never Miss Australia”.
And search I did.
From the age of 30, I was on a treasure-hunt of self-discovery, trying spiritual groups, a multitude of therapies and had a bookcase full of “Shelf Help”. Despite my best efforts, I couldn't break free from my emotional or financial constraints.
In 2004, after a disastrous three-year relationship ended in ghosting, a friend gave me a ticket to the free 3-day Christopher Howard Breakthrough to Success (BTS) event. Day three of the event - of the 3,000 people in the packed auditorium at Darling Harbour Sydney – Chris pulled out my name and I won a place in his Design Your Destiny course.
At that course, the next opportunity was to sign up to the entire “Fast Track to Success” and $27,000 worth of NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) training. I had my life’s total of $5,000 in the bank, Ben Harvey their sales manager presented me with the choice, make the decision to either go all in, or stay the same. You can guess my decision. After two years of NLP study, coaching and crewing on their events, my thinking started to transform and my life followed suit.
For the last ten years, I have enjoyed a challenging but fulfilling career in the film industry, notching up credits. It’s a tough industry. As a producer, you have to create something out of nothing - taking a conversation, a newspaper article, an idea and turn it into engaging screen content. Actually, it’s just like how we create our own realities.
Today....
In 2020, amid the lockdowns, this Ms Single /No Kids got married to the love of her life “Cowboy Dave”.
I’m still working in the film industry, with the addition of training and coaching. In 2023, I accelerated my coaching credentials with now master coach Ben Harvey (yes same guy from BTS), who along with Cham Tang has created Authentic Education, Australia’s premier coaching company which they modelled, nuanced and expanded out of those early trainings with Chris Howard. My journey has made who I am today and my mission now is to empower you to manifest your desires and create the life you want. Let's work together and shape your journey.
